Dr. Joshua Philippe Olorocisimo

We would like to welcome Dr. Joshua Philippe Olorocisimo, to the CPIN Program. Joshua Philippe Olorocisimo, PhD is a biomedical scientist, neuroengineer, and data scientist whose work sits at the intersection of systems neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and translational biotechnology. He has authored over 10 peer-reviewed research articles spanning neural interfaces, the gut microbiome-brain axis, and biophotonic systems, with work presented at leading international conferences in North America, Europe, and Asia. Joshua completed his PhD in Neuroengineering at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, where he developed minimally invasive neural implants and applied machine learning models to decode neural and behavioral dynamics related to pain and epilepsy. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto, within the Intelligent Sensory Microsystems Lab, focusing on peripheral nerve interfaces, neuromodulation, and AI-driven analysis of movement and behavior. He is currently an affiliated researcher with the lab, continuing collaborative research in neural interfaces and intelligent biomedical devices. In parallel with his academic work, Joshua works as a Data Scientist at Clarivate, where he develops and deploys AI and large language model–based systems to enhance drug knowledge curation and R&D decision-making across large biomedical datasets. His broader interests include NeuroAI, closed-loop neural systems, and the responsible application of AI to accelerate scientific discovery and improve patient outcomes.
