CPIN Postdocs News, New Members
Dr. Alireza Shabanzadeh

We would like to welcome Dr. Alireza Shabanzadeh, to the CPIN Program. Dr. Shabanzadeh is a cerebrovascular and translational neuroscience researcher and Scientific Associate at the Krembil Research Institute, University Health Network (Toronto). His work focuses on molecular mechanisms of neurovascular dysfunction after stroke, aiming to restore vascular integrity and promote neuroregeneration. He developed clinically relevant embolic stroke models and led a first-author Nature Cardiovascular Research study demonstrating that inhibition of SKI-1 restores vascular integrity after ischemic injury. His research integrates ischemia models with single-cell transcriptomics, light-sheet microscopy, advanced MRI, and systems-level analyses to map molecular, cellular, and metabolic responses to vascular injury. He is also committed to teaching and mentoring neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.
