Seojin Lee

Research Day Poster Presentation Award
Seojin Lee

Seojin is a fourth year PhD student in Dr. Gabor Kovacs’ Lab at the department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. She graduated from the Medical Sciences program at the University of Western Ontario and joined the lab to pursue her interest in neurodegenerative diseases research. Her studies focus on elucidating the role of iron accumulation in early neurodegenerative disease pathways, in particular in a rare Parkinsonism named Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. With the development of a histology method to examine pathological iron deposition at the cell type specific level, her research quickly extended to other iron-associated neurodegenerative diseases and now aim to delineate disease-specific mechanisms of iron dyshomeostasis for therapeutic intervention.
