Ain Kim is a PhD candidate at the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology and the Collaborative Program In Neuroscience (CPIN), University of Toronto. She is also a member of the Temerty Centre for AI Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM). Ain's research under the supervision of Dr. Gabor G. Kovacs focuses on evaluating cell-specific accumulation of neurodegenerative proteins in the human brain and AI-based subclassification of Synucleinopathies based on the cell-specific biochemical, morphological and molecular characteristics. Outside of research, Ain has actively participated in mentoring, teaching and outreach. Her experience in the 3-minute thesis competition at the University of Toronto has secured her a generous donation to fund her research, motivating her to reduce scientific communication-related barriers within and between the scientific and non-scientific communities.
