Research interests: The Nieman lab has been studying the impact of childhood cancer treatment on development. Side effects from treatment can include learning, memory and attention impairments, cardiac malfunction and secondary tumours. In particular, the groups has been evaluating the impact cranial radiation on brain development, and dissecting chemotherapy to determine which agents are most brain and cardiotoxic. Additional projects include development of imaging tools for mouse phenotyping in disease models,focusing particularly on MRI.
