Congratulations to Kendall Mar

Congratulations to CPIN student member Kendall Mar (Department of Psychology, supervised by Dr. Junchul Kim) on completing the CPIN requirements and graduating from her PhD program. 

Kendall Mar completed her PhD in Behavioural Neuroscience in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Junchul Kim. Her doctoral research investigated the neural circuits underlying spatial memory and navigation, with a particular focus on the role of the mammillary bodies in path integration and Alzheimer's disease. Throughout her graduate training, Kendall authored several peer-reviewed publications, including first-author papers in Behavioural Brain Research (2024), which identified age-dependent path integration deficits in the 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer's disease, and Brain Research Bulletin (2025), which introduced a novel behavioural assay for investigating conflicts between allocentric and egocentric spatial memory. She presented her research at national and international conferences, including the Society for Neuroscience, the Canadian Association for Neuroscience, and the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Conference on Neuronal Circuits. Her academic excellence was recognized by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Counsil of Canada Graduate Scholarship and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. Beyond her research, Kendall supported the development of undergraduate researchers through mentorship, training, and effective science communication. She is excited to apply her scientific expertise in research-focused roles that translate neuroscientific discoveries into evidence-based solutions with real-world impact.
